Default How healthy is the Amiga demo scene?

Hi all..

As i'm just coming back to the Amiga after a five year absence I was wondering what the state of the demo scene is?

I know that the C=64 scene is still very much alive so hopefully the Amiga scene is fairing equally as well.

I wouldn't mind doing a bit of artwork for a productive group you see. Maybe even go to a party!

There are almost no releases outside of parties. Most parties with an Amiga or retro section get 1 or 2 demos.

A lot of people release their annual demo at Breakpoint but nothing else, so that gets a lot of entries.

Yes, Mekka is dead. I was talking about now, not the past.

Edit: Hmmm.. only 6 amiga productions at Breakpoint? Damn... I thought there were more.

Nothing like what Mekka got in its last couple of years... *sigh*

yes, it's a sad thing. i first visited mekka2k-1 - it was impressive!!! i never missed a mekka since 99. well, the heidmarkhalle is located near to me (aprox. 30-40 minutes by car).

anyone visited breakpoint this year?

amiga demoscene is still active. simply take a look at www.scene.org and crawl through the party-archives.

hmm..."best" amidemo i saw was planet potion...but it's a ppc-only demo, so....

cu,

Planet Potion ist not a real demo but an intro.
The best new demos have to be something like "Lapsuus / Maturefurk" or the new ones by TBL such as "perfect circle" or "magia".

greets

Lapsuus rules, TBL's prods too, but the new breed of demos have to challenge Mental/Push ent.

Ephidrena prods are good too, but they still have to release a masterpiece demo (the best are Concrete and Substral IMHO)
