Anyone log on here with a A1000?
« on: September 17, 2003, 10:39:22 PM »
Just curious, wish I didn't sell mine in 1989.
I had a side memory expansion with a pwr LED and a RAM usage LED, which was pretty geeky cool,  never saw another one since, nor is it listed at amiga-hardware sites, AFAICTell.

No I honestly can't say I have. At one time I was planning on doing the ultimate classic upgrade to an A1000 but I never found the time:-(

I absolutely have used an A500 for extensive internet stuff in the past though, including Amiga.org:-) It was a pretty serious A500 w/A530 and other goodies.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

A guy i spoke with on IRC probably more than 1 year ago and who joined here but didnt post much used his A1000 for online and pretty much everything else, a pretty stacked up one to if i remeber correctly on which he's used since 1986 or so.

Maybe he's still around...

What a great idea!  Never even thought of using my A1000 to go online. Mine is pretty much bone-stock except for the 256 ram upgrade.  Is it possible to use a stock A1000 for web browsing?  Best regards...Art

If a basic C64, upgraded with only an ethernet cart can surf the web, your A1000 should be able to ;-)

What kickstart do you have?

2.x is probably the minimum (just a guess, though). With that you could probably use AmiTCP and Lynx to view webpages with text only.

It would suck, but... ;-)

hmm,.. what were you planning, though?  I've heard of hardware-hacked A1000's with '030 inside, but not lately.  It would be cool though for Bar talk?

Its true!!!  :-o  :-o  :-o

But where would you get an ethernet controller for a 64? You would probably have to make it yourself.

Nope. I'm pretty sure Individual Computers just released/is about to release a C64 network interface. RR-Net, if I'm not delusional. :-o

Jens schoenfeld has indeed made an ethernet adaptor which fits on his Retro replay cartridge.
Vesalia is shipping them in a bundle package (RR-net + retro replay) for 99.90 euro (rougly $115)

info at www.vesalia.de
