Default Considering getting a USB controller

I am considering getting a Deneb USB controller .

It says the requirements are as follows :

Amiga OS 3.1 or higher
Processor 68030 (25MHz) or higher
100% compatible Zorro II / III bus
Buster 9 or 11 for Zorro III DMA operation (please check our note on DMA support)
power supply with 1.5 Ampere minimum on 5V (each used USB port will use a maximum of 500mA, depending on connected device)

I have an A4000 desktop with Kickstart 3.1 and it is an 030 . Also has 16Mb ram .

What is the Buster thing ? How do i know if i have it ?
And is my stock PSU good enough ?

Also , once installed , will it be compatible with **ANY** common usb device ?

I would want to use :

USB LAN
USB CF/SD reader
USB Pen drive
USB Wifi
USB Keyboard/Mouse
USB Webcam

Etc...

Super buster chip is a large cbm chip just near the simm sockets, might be soldered in place or in socket that you can upgrade..

I think most a4000 will have either 9 or 11.. probs very rare to have anything earlier.

Putting a Deneb in your A4000 will be the best decision you'll ever make.

I use a cheap PC USB Ethernet cable for surfing the web, I've used an SD card reader, used lots of pen drives, USB floppy (PC format only), IDE & SATA Hard drives (via a USB-IDE/SATA adapter cable) and USB DVD-RW.

WiFi will be a problem due to lack of drivers and the ability to configure it.

I use PS2 adapters to connect PS2 keyboards and mice to the proper Amiga ports.

As my A4000 case is so packed and the DVD drive is crusing the cables against the PSU, I'm planning on removing it and replacing it with an internal IDE ZIP drive and just using the USB DVD-RW.

Trust me, it's worth every penny.

I have heard it's very sloooow.... But no first hand experience... I would think it would be fine for a mouse, etc. but that's some list of stuff you want to use... Not sure about all that, but it would be cool...

But maybe I'm recalling a different USB controller for the A1200...

The Subway for the A1200-clockport is slow, because of the slow bus it's connected too. The HighWay and Algor are Z2-cards which while still being USB1.1 only are much faster.

The Deneb is a Z2/3 card offering USB2.0 and speeds that will put any dedicated HD-controller to shame (except maybe the UW-SCSI on the CyberstormMK3/PPC).

Your config seems OK, just wondering: no graphic card?
Buster issue in your system doesn't matter. You should check Buster revision anyhow to know in case of problems later.
Stock PSU should do, my config (CSPPC 060, PIV, flicker fixer) works also with the stock PSU.

Not any, but *many*. We cannot guarantee operation with all *common* (whatever this means) USB devices.

USB LAN
Certain USB-LAN converters are supported, please check the supported list before buying any LAN converter and complaining afterwards :-)

Quote:
USB CF/SD reader
USB Pen drive
Usually no problems here.

Quote:
USB Wifi
Definite NO.

USB Keyboard/Mouse
Usually no problems here.

USB Webcam
Only few models supported - drivers are vendor specific and not documentated by the manufacturers, so we have no chance to provide drivers.

Etc...
What else?
