Default LCD Monitor + VGA Box = Cheap Amiga LCD display ?

I have a spare 15 Inch LCD monitor running around at home and since i don't currently have the cash for an Indivision , i was thinking if this makes sense :

I buy a VGA Box and :

Connect the amiga using the Amiga to Vga adapter to the VGA box and then the VGA box to the LCD monitor .

Or

Connect the Amiga using Amiga to RGB/Scart cable to the VGA box and VGA box to LCD .

From what i understand , it will be exactly the same as though i connected the Amiga to a normal monitor or TV .

I use OS3.9 at Hi-Res and mostly use WHDLOAD to play classic games .

Would this setup work for me ?

The VGA input is simply a pass-through for a PC compatible VGA signal, it doesn't do a thing with that signal.

If you have an A1200 you could connect the composite video-out to the VGA-box, but don't expect miracles.

Also, the VGA-box simply doubles the scan-rate so your monitor can not be too picky about the frequencies it gets thrown at it.

The quality the Screen hasn't a good quality if you use a VGA Box.

Better you save money for the indy AGA or you buy an used SC/Flifi (but keep in mind that many of the LCDs Monitors have problems with the old Scandoublers)

Very few LCD can handle 15Khz RGB by the VGA input...
Make a try with a "Commodore VGA" adapter.

Look for the Fujilink A1901W (wide screen, 19") LCD TV. It works in PAL and NTSC resolutions. Much better than a crappy 1084S.

With the VGA Box expect picture quality like this where it is hooked onto a Nec MultiSync CRT monitor. Better indeed safe up some money and get a decent LCD TV with both SCART and VGA input.

So if the LCD TV has SCART input ,

Would it work just like it was a 1084S but take higher resolutions without interlace ?

No, not a good idea. Better if you just save your money for the IndivisionAGA, or keep your eyes open for the several external FlickerFixer/ScanDoublers that will be put up for sale from people that are switching to the IndivisionAGA.

(Not affiliated with the IndivisionAGA in any way)

With SCART input you are allways limited to PAL/NTSC maximum resolution.
640x200/256 nonlace
640x400/512 lace

I have a 22" Samsung LCD TV. The games in PAL are perfect. As for text, well, I would prefer my CV64...
