Default This might have been my lucky day. Thanks Lando!

A friend called up and offered to let me pick thru electronic stuff that was otherwise going into a dumpster (I mean a skip, grin). Sitting atop 2 rack-mount cabinets were two 25 inch Trinitrons. Each has 2 composite, 1 S-video, and 1 RGB multisync input. There were also 2 remote controls that were never opened. Model No: PVM-2530.

Is anyone running these with their Amiga or Toaster? I'm hoping to find the pinout for the RGB input.

They are heavy. The surprising thing was the rolling rack cart things they are supposed to sit upon. After removing the monitors and emptying them, 2 of us couldn't lift them. It turns out they have 300 lbs of ballast in the bottom to prevent tip-overs.

I tested the monitors with the composite output of an A600 last night, they looked very good.

Isn't there a website that specializes in video pinouts?

Of your A600 ? - just ask anybody here :-D (just kidding)

Most Sony commercial equipment has the same type of connector. I'm using an old Sony 13" Trinitron commerical monitor on an A4000 RGB output (and it's heavy too!). I have the manual somewhere, with the pinouts, if your web search is unsuccessful. We did have to make a custom cable from the Amiga to the Sony.

@ Hardlink

I'm still searching. The RGB input is a 25-pin male D-sub, I've never seen that before. Is your Sony the same?

It seems the s-video input can be switched to Scart. I think Scart has seperate chroma and lumina, not RGB signals. I'm looking into this, too.

EDIT: No problem with making custom video cables.

Mitsubishi used D25 on their multisyncs too. I don't know if the pinout is the same.

I'm not sure about that. AFAIK Scart can be either composite or RGB (that is, it varies).

The SCART specification allows it to carry S-Video/S-VHS, RGB and composite at the same time, but it's up to manufacturers to actually implement each type of signal. Generally the higher end units like Trinitrons will support all the signals. RGB - SCART is a very easy cable to make up for an Amiga and gives an excellent picture.

SCART supports both RGB, composite and svideo afaik. A cheap tv set might however only support composite input. I would definitely go with RGB over composite as the picture quality is much better then.

@ Lando

I have not had a chance to log in with the laptop yet. When I do, I'll print out the pdf. So far, I haven't found anything else on the RGB connector.

I found a cable in the junk drawer that fits the 8-pin Scart connector. I better get educated on Scart now too. Doesn't Scart include audio left & right? If so, I doubt RGB is included in mine, but who knows.

Thanks for the help, guuys.

8-pin SCART? If the connector has only 8 pins, its probably not SCART.
