Default Question for A1000 SCSI hard drive users...

Before I go to the trouble of wiring up an 86pin A1000 adapter to 100pin Zorro II (I already have the parts) for use with a 2091, I was wondering what most of you have done to get your A1000 HD equipped. Internal design would be the obvious superior choice (AdIDE), but an external solution might be "easier" to secure than one of those puppies.

I'm not going to have a fancy case either, so will have to think of something to put all that junk in. Don't really want my A1000 to look like a freak accident! lol

IMHO, if you can find a empty A1060 sidecar case, but that is probably next to impossible. :-D

I had used a Micrbotics Starboard II with SCSI for a couple of years. I now use an old Xetec Fast Trak/ Fast RAM box that is supposed to be A500/A1000. It ends up backwards on my machine with just room for a true A1000 mouse (the one with the angled plug) It works quite well though.
I'm still trying to get a PC board to allow using a newer ROM from one of our German members here. I'll let you all know how that works, if and when...
A500 sidecar boxes work, with the problem of blocking off the mouse/joystick ports.
Nothing is really easy doing this, I guess.

Back in the Elder Days I had a Phoenix toolbox on my 1000. It held the Trumpcard and 2058 Ram board nicely. Of course, I had to shorten the center support of my computer hutch to make that wide combo fit.

I just read an article from Amazing Computing (volume 4, #11 '89) on that Toolbox. It was entertaining and mirrored much of our experiences whenever we try to upgrade *ANY* Amiga computer. In this case, the reviewer ended up sending his back for a full refund after 3 or so months of monkeying around and trying to get it to work. lol

I found that article in my magazine scans collection... Good thing I must not have read it back in the day. ;-)
My system worked perfectly for years until I got a 2000 and sold off the Toolbox. But then, I'd already installed a DKB Kwikstart board to eliminate the need for the kickstart disk. That also included a new PAL and the 'grounding mod'. I even ran a heavier ground line out to the toolbox's ground plane. I also never tried putting anything on the passthtru of the toolbox... I was sure that would never work.
