This one looks like a real crapshoot. The chance of recovery probably depends on what caused the corrosion and the type of board, two layer or multi-layer. After over a week straight of evenings and weekends, I had to finally give up on recovering a A3K Tower because of battery corrosion in the inner layers of the multi-layer board.
Now that you have pushed the price down and turned buyers away, what are you offering for it? ;-) |

lol.
sorry its a real crapshoot. this thing looks bad. Perhaps the value of the 68060 CPU? (~50). Honestly, if you're the seller and were interested in value, you should end the auction now, fix the board and relist it clean and working. A working Blizzard is gold, a "unknown" is worthless. Pity all bidders so far that think they can fix this easily. |

Wow, didn't they know you shouldn't store your computers under water?

Holy Cow! But in all seriousness... the board does not look *that* bad. You know... most of that could be cleaned up with vinegar and a toothbrush. I bet it would fine after that. Assuming the board and computer were not in operation at the time of the great flood! lol
For the seriously anally retentive after douching her down with vinegar... one could always bead blast the rest of the corrosion. Hmm... I'm going to keep an eye on this one. Maybe I could win it at $55, spend 2 minutes cleaning it and turn it around for $800 to sumunsuspecting Amigan... LOL! Just kidding fellas! (as I listen to Throwing Stones by The Grateful Dead) |

Not the same for this 2060 :-( I am getting sad just by viewing it in such a condition as I will love to have a 060 for my 2000...

You may be lucky if it last 10 minutes after you clean it up! My first thought was how cool, then I looked at the picture...

Wow, it's up to $100(USD) already. I would consider taking a shot at it if the price was $40-$70, but $100 is a bit steep for an obviously non-working card with that type of damage.

I dunno, Mike. I have seen some really bad looking stuff work just fine. And cleaned up they looked much better.
At $100+, though, I am afraid that I am not willing to take the chance. If someone picks up that board for under $200 and it works, that would be quite a steal. |

Did someone accidentally drop this thing into a vat of battery acid? The bottom of my car looks more pristine.

if the cpu is working and like new (which most likely it is) then the cpu along is worth at least 100. However i do agree it is on the "high" side given the condition.

I'm with mdivancic and countzero:
From my experience when you have that much rust, the rest of the parts (near the back) are rotted. Just look at the back of the card: looks like a lot of grime. And especially once you get current going through there... Nah, if it was $50, fine, but otherwise it's too risky. AND as CountZero says, the CPU isn't visible to make an estimation. You can get non-EC/LC CPUs for $30 or so, so sorry, not worth $100. This is totally an "are you feeling lucky?" item. With (a TON of) luck, you've got a nice card, otherwise... |

To add to this, if you look at the seller's previous auctions it seems:
* items have been in a flood or something (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130275852564) * some work and he seems to know what he's doing from reading the comments (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130278181215) * most parts have corrosion (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130279239880) My guess is that these have been in a flood or flooded basement and are at various states of decay. Even if they work, it'll be a matter of time before failure unless you clean them expertly (I'd unsolder the chips, clean the board and resolder, but we're talking SMD components and such, so in the end it might not be really worth it). GL to whoever wins it! |
