Default Best 060 accelerator? Amiga Tech A4060?

I might keep this bad boy for myself.

From what I read it makes use of EDO RAM and has the fastest memory transfer of any Amiga accelerator. Anyone overclocked this badboy beyond 75Mhz?

You got a nice Revision 6 MC68060RC50 (E41J) to go in it?

Shame it doesn't have the SCSI capability of CSPPC/CSMKIII

Jim,

I had this same accelerator in my C= A4000T back in the early 90s. It is THE BEST 060 accelerator, bar none (IMO) unless you want to step up to a PPC card. There are plenty of SCSI cards around, not to mention the built in SCSI on your tower.

If you want the best, this is it (IMO). I used to use this card with my toaster / flyer setup.

Regards,
Ltstanfo

PS: I know it is symantics but I don't ever recall this being called an AT accelerator. I always saw it advertised as the QuikPak 060 accelerator (yours is the first model).

I don't know the revision of the CPU yet, but if I keep this I will buy the best 060 possible.

This would be going in my A3000T which has SCSI-II already.

Lee,
Thanks for the info. BBOAH states it was designed for and sold by Amiga Technologies, but later was sold by Quickpak. I assumed they were one of the same. The date stamp on it says 96, which would seem to be AT era :-?

Sure but the SCSI-3 Ultra Wide on CSPPC/CSMKIII beats any other Amiga SCSI controller by a LONG way (in terms of transfer rate, MB/s).

I'd rather have a 300% faster hard drive than 18% faster memory.

I won't dispute that it was designed for AT. My point was simply that all of the advertising I ever saw for it called it the QuikPak 060. In any event, keep it for your A3000T although you *may* have to do the INT mod to make it work (not sure though).

I think it's a clearly a nice card, but if you're going to hang on to one esoteric accelerator card I'd keep the Wildfire instead, and as alexh says find a CSPPC/MKIII for the A3KT.

I have at least one extra MKIII, but they don't overclock as well iirc.

At least one extra? Nice! You should be able to hit 80 MHz on the MKIII with a Rev. 6 '060, IIRC there are a few guys on the forum that have done it. (If there's an easy way to divide the memory speed like on some Apollo cards, 90 or even 100 MHz should be doable.) There's a guy on ebay selling them here.

I believe that the CPU060 command can adjust the flash to enable wait states (but I am not 100% sure)

ReDrum, What is your plan for making the accelerator fit between the motherboard and the cross support that runs from the front of your A3000T to the back and holds your hard-drive(s). To run the speeds you are talking will require fans for cooling the chips that may not fit. I certainly hope you're not planning on cutting up the cross brace and undoing some of the originality of the A3000T. You very well could be losing more than you are gaining.

I've been running my in my A3000T for years without the INT mod. I think this is only required for accelerators that use SCSI.

This card fits fine in a A3000T. No cutting required.

Your card is an 060 that is overclocked? You must have a fan at that point. If the fan fits it is blowing onto a sheet of metal just a fraction of an inch away? You don't see a problem with this? I agree an 060 will fit easily that is not overclocked and has no fan. ReDrum is talking about overclocking by a lot.
