Default Who sets their heavy CRT's on their 4000D?

Hey,

After searching, I only found 1 other thead discussing this.

Thinking about setting my HEAVY 17" crt on my 4000D but don't want to damage my miggy! How many others here do this and feel that it is safe and won't deform their cases.

Thanks for the opinions.

i wasn't happy to have a 20" silicon graphics CRT on my first A4000d (not the one i have now). and i winced a bit looking at the case take the strain.
so i took the monitor off, and put the machine on the bottom shelf of the trolly, and put the monitor back on the top shelf.

to make its point, having both this monitor and an escom A4000T on the computer trolly actually bent the metal mounting of one of the casters.

i wouldn't mind something like a 1084s, or microvitec 1438, or something 'not too heavy'. but when you think that it is just a piece of sheet metal resting on the front and back of the chassis, with the zorro riser mounting bar supporting the middle of the lid through the riser, and therefore the mainboard itself, i'd be having second thoughts

I use a heavy 17" CRT on my A4000D. It's a tough little cookie and can take the strain. I really need to get a good LCD through.

Just cut a piece of wood the same size as the 4000 case and put your monitor on it. It won't be damaged that way as it will distribute the weight "equally".

My A4000D has had a 19" Iiyama Vision Master Pro 450 sitting on top for the last 10 years and it seems happy!

Slightly OT but I used to sit my Phillips monitor on top of my 2000HD for a good few years and never had a problem :-)

Haven't got my flat TFT monitor on my 4000D though. Because of the working environment (my monitor is shared between PC and 4000D) I have the monitor at the side of my 4000D now and the PC tower unit under the desk where it belongs

Lately I have used a piece of wood 1/2 inch by what ever the case top dimentions are on my A3000D is. I have a 1084 plus two other monitors on a self above the A4000D. See sig. Both are on the same desk.
