Im thinking about getting an A2000 here in NZ off our ebay equivalent trademe.co.nz and the seller has posted a pic of what looks like corrosion from the battery. The machine is working atm and i was wondering if any of you guys with some experience in this area could tell me if it looks like i should be able to clean it up and what is the best way to do it.

me not expert but if it's working and you remove the corroding causing element=battery then the corrosion won't spread any further and the computer will keep working the same. right?

Unfortunately, the leaking-battery scenario is pretty common these days. Could be a lot worse though, and if the machine is still working OK (and reasonably priced) I'd say go for it. As weirdami mentioned, clean it up and you should be just fine. There are different opinions on what to use (ISO has worked OK for me).

Lemon juice out of one of the squirty things worked good for me too :-)
To be honest I've seen worse that has survived once it's been cleaned up. Dave G 8-) |
