Default A500 Hard Drive
Can any one point me in the direction for a HD for 500+?
I would be greatful, and any information on spec etc?
Sort of new to the upgrade and mod scene!

How about the good 'ol A590 then for starters ...

Or the Alphapower 500, the Dataflyer 500, GVP, etc.

Finding them might be more tricky! Consider a change to the A600 or even better, the A1200 for future modding and expansion.

Or contact DJbase right here on A.org and ask for his IDE controller for A500/2000 and relatives.

You need a small ROM update, too (kickstart 37350 or, better, ROM 3.1).

Brill! The A590 seems an obvious choice.Wheres the best place to get one? And the install easy? Ive also heard of an external HD, Or is that not true?

The A590 was an external drive. Sadly, they are as rare as a rocking horse winning the grand national

"CFIDE68K" V1.88 is under development and bug-hunt. I have some proto PCBs, but it didn't start running right away.
Summary: It is an internal A500 IDE-interface (now with CF-connector) that mimics A600 Gayle IDE-interface during startup boot, so it is recognised by the IDE-driver in A600 kickstarts 3.1, or 2.05 (37.350 revision)

This run of boards will be 10+ pcs, which I'll put for sale, i was thinking the price in round figures of 50 euros + 10 for shipping & handling.

I've assembled one, but it didn't recognise the ide/cf drive. I'll continue work on it tomorrow.
