Default FAST ATA4000 UPGRADE

Let me just point out that I love my FastATA4000 IDE adapter. In fact, I like all my Elbox products such as A1200 towers (I have 2), Power Flyer Gold, PC keyboard adapter, etc.

As a registered user, I received an email inviting me to upgrade the FastATA4000 with the new ROMs and decided to take Elbox up on it. OK, the ROM prices were a bit expensive in my opinion, but I added them to my shopping cart and went to check out. Someone somewhere must have a great sense of humour, because they wanted $39 to mail me a couple of chips. All together, this was going to cost me $83! A bloody new MkV from AmigaKit only costs $128.

I decided to politely inform Elbox what I thought of their shipping and handling charges and wrote them a nice email. It bounces back saying that the Elbox server suspected it was SPAM. I toned it down a bit and resent it with the same result. As Elbox obviously don’t want me to reply by email, here it is in public, just so they get the message:

Dear Elbox,

Thank you for the offer to upgrade the ROMs in my new FastATA 4000, however I feel that I must decline this offer until whoever sets your shipping rates either sobers up or stops taking crack-cocaine.

Great product though - I love it!

Best regards,

I think I’ll stick to using the Mk4.
:-D

I've got nothing against them making some money off the upgrade, but this is kicking the ass out of it considering I only bougth the thing (new) a few months ago.

Meanwhile, I've had a free flash firmware upgrade for my Deneb and a free replacement PIC for my Minimig. Oh well, perhaps they'll have a "free shipping" sale in the future.
