NEW Toshiba TC514400Z-80 ZIP RAM in stock...
« on: August 14, 2008, 05:45:24 PM »
EDIT

Removed info as it is no longer valid. See my other posts about ATX to Amiga adapter cables and ROM switchers.

I'll leave this, as I would like to know what people think:

I have also been thinking about making a special cable to power an Amiga 500/600/1200 from a standard molex (HD & CD-ROM) connector that is free on an existing ATX PSU, that is being used by a PC. This is not just wires like my other cables above - it wouldn't work, as you need the -12V rail. If I get enough people interested in this, I will take the time and effort + spend the $ to bring this to reality.

EDIT...I will be selling them at AUD$25 per 2MB (old price of ZIP RAM)

Hi all,

I have found a better supplier for ZIP RAM, so I can now offer it for AUD$17.40 per 2MB. This is for brand new Toshiba TC514400Z-80 ZIP RAM IC's. This suits many applications. If you buy 10MB worth or more, you will get it even cheaper ;-) I expect to have this RAM in stock on Tuesday. I will have 32 IC's in total when this stock arrives. This is enough to fully populate an A3000D with 16MB of fast RAM.

Nathan

P.S. I can also obtain rare RAM of just about any type. For example, I also ordered some some new MB81C4256-10, at the request of a customer. He also wanted 20pcs (10MB) of the Toshiba ZIP RAM, so of course he got a sweet price :-D

Hi all,

I have the Toshiba TC514400Z-80 ZIP RAM in stock - 32pcs/16MB. I will be testing it all tomorrow. I will be selling them on a first come, first serve basis. If you buy 10MB worth or more (20pcs +), you will receive a small discount. If there is no interest here, or on other sites, I will list it on ebay, in which case it will be AUD$2 more per 2MB to cover my fees.

At that price I would be interested in buying at least 8 MB, possibly all 16.  Got a 3000 with NO fAST RAM at all, and it's kinda useless like that :-(

Accelerators for it are, apparently, made of gold so I can't afford to go that route.  I've also got a GBA1000 board but it'll be a long time before that works.  So it'd be cool to get the 3000 going for my retro needs :-)

Hi all,

I have tested all 50 of the Toshiba ZIP RAM IC's, and one of them was a dud :-( So, I will only be offering 14MB in total at this time. Once this all sells, I will order 64 more (plus a few extras to cover for any defective ones). That's enough to fully populate two A3000D's.

If you want up to 14MB of this ZIP RAM NOW, you had better PM me telling me how much you want, so I can send you a PayPal invoice. If I have no takers within a few days, I'll have to list it on ebay for AUD$19.40 per 2MB.

Also, I have discovered that I can fit up to 16MB into a smaller box than I thought, so postage is even cheaper than what I may have quoted previously.

If people want 10MB (20pcs) worth and up, I give a small discount. For example, if someone wants 10MB (20pcs) of ZIP RAM, it would normally come to AUD$87. I would then sell it for AUD$82, a discount of AUD$5. To break it down to single unit/IC pricing, it would look like this:

Less than 10MB - AUD$4.35 each IC (AUD$17.40 per 2MB)
10MB and up - AUD$4.10 each IC (AUD$16.40 per 2MB)

Postal rates (regular air mail) for up to 16MB of ZIP RAM:
Australia wide - AUD$2.45
U.S.A, E.U, U.K and other countries - AUD$5.45

Nathan

P.S. The Australian dollar is very weak at the moment, so some international buyer can get this RAM from me quite cheap.

All the ZIP RAM is gone now, provided that the buyer doesn't change his mind.

It will probably be a few weeks before I order a big batch of about 64+ IC's. Depends on my budget, and interest.

@Tron2k2
I've used Z3Fastlane for RAM upgrade.. its not "made of gold" and you can also buy that ZIP2SIMM adapter.
Better sorry than worry.
