Id recommend getting a PAL A1200 as the majority of software out there is written with PAL in mind. Even though you can switch modes at power up, some software will revert back to PAL. Im waiting for Jens Scandoubler as well - I've been informed by AmigaKit that they're going to carry it later this summer, and installing it is a cinch... no soldering. Ive currently got my A1200 hooked up to a monitor using an external scandoubler (bought for far less than $900 might I add!) and it works fine. Ive also hooked it up to my LCD TV using composite and while the picture is fuzzy, it will keep you going until the scandoubler comes out. HTH Mark |

Who's thinking Doomy's going to drop him an email letting him know that he does "video editing" on "military grade hardware" and if he just sent his A2000's to him...?

I will do the video editing the seller needs done. I am not near Chicago though and don't need any extra A2000s. That plus a shortage of cash flow lead me to want to try to arrange other ways to get the video gear with a trade of my extra Amiga gear.
So, any of you Chicago Amiga users want to buy that lot, I will gladly trade my NTSC A1200 w/GVP030 8mb RAM for all the video gear and monitors, plus I will add an A2000 GVP TekMagic 060 accelerator for you to put in one of those A2000s you will be keeping. Send me an email, check my profile.

I'm still working the deal. He's dropped the price already to the point that I'm probably going to buy it. I asked about the batteries, but he doesn't seem to know anything about it. I suspect they're both corroded. I sent him a link I found that shows pictures of corroded batteries. He says he used one toaster until about 8 months ago, then put it in storage. The other one he bought on ebay three years ago as a spare. He booted it once, then stored it.
I'm figuring i'll ebay a lot of the equipment. Some things like the mixing board would be cool to keep, but I'm not sure I would use a lot of the other equipment. And if it could offset the cost of the amigas, that would be ideal. ... just sent another email. He doesn't want to include the mixing board now. And there's no power at the storage facility where it is, so I can't power up anything. Still, he came way down on the price. One working toaster out of the lot would make it worth it. It's looking like it might include a 1084 also. If I go check it out, anything I should look for other than the corroded batteries? I'm very (very) interested in your hardware for hardware deal also. I'll keep you posted. brian |

Just be prepared to haggle him down... hes been posting that advert for a while now, and Ive been going back and forth on buying it. When he first posted the items, it was $200 for the lot. Obviously hes had a lot of interest in splitting up the lot so hes increased the price.
But if you can do the editing for him, I wouldnt be surprised if you could knock him back down to close to $200. |

He's down to $250, but without the mixing board. I said I'd do it, but since there was no power I had to open the machines and check the batteries first. I'm betting he complains about it.
I could probably do the editing, but the machines would have to work for that. ;-) brian |
