Default Woo Hoo! My miggy is flying!

Hi all,

Take a look at my new sig - I've just added a Voodoo 5500 graphics card.

Although it has 64mb memory, the Amiga can only access 32mb, but my, it certainly makes a difference!

Screen re-drawing is noticeably faster, though I can't tell by how much. An image showing program, PhotoAlbum, shows thumbnails (already generated by the program) of photos in full colour and 50 takes less than 2 seconds! It used to take, I'm guessing, over 5 seconds with the Voodoo 3000!

ImageFX runs much faster as well as Pagestream.

The miggy never ceases to amaze me :-D

That's a serious piece of hardware you have there Wurzel. I'm suitably green with envy.
I just could never get a PPC accelerator for my old Amiga 1200, without having to hock an organ, so I gave up. Enjoy the little beasty.

Are you running the latest new mediator drivers "that suppose to improve performance" ? You must be the first person to say the voodoo 5 runs faster than a voodoo 3 on the amiga . Most users have downgraded from a voodoo 4\5 to a 3 as it runs faster , in my setup it was a difference by 8 fps in quake 2 that made me use a voodoo 3 ...

Witch program do you use? :-)
I also have mediator and Voodoo 3000, just wanna take a test ;-)
But I don't have any program that can show thumbnails...

Yes, I'm using the latest drivers.

I must admit, on the Mediator list, everyone was saying there wasn'tmuch difference and it wasn't worth upgrading.

But I'm suitably impressed.

Thanks, it's taken me a long time to get where I am. But I don't have a PPC, dunno where you got that from? Anyway, I would like to have one, along with OS4 - where's the Dragon when you want one?

I use PhotoAlbum. It's only for graphics cards but it's really good. You can find it here:

I scanned your sig too quickly. I saw Power in there, and thought I saw Power PC.

The Dragon is a mythical creature. ;-)

well heres my results with a voodoo3 in mediator 4000di
seems my setup is still a little faster except of some intuition functions. from ur specs it looks like u managed to allocate some gfx memory as system ram (an option i dont know much about), hence the alltogether system speed inreased, but not the graphics.

best
