I have a question about installing a CD Rom drive.
This is a new installation of OS 3.1 on an A2000 w/A2091 SCSI card. The CD Rom dirve is a Toshiba XM-5401B 4X (50 pin SCSI) (good). The SCSI bus is properly treminated (I think). If I boot up with a disk in the drive everything works correctly. I am able to access the disk and also able to change disks to another disk and access that disk. Boot time is normal. If I boot up without a disk in the CD Rom boot time is much longer. I think the system is polling the CD Rom for what seems to be an excivesly long time. After its done booting if I put a disk in the CD Rom the system hangs (locked up ?). Anyone .. any ideas where my problem is ?? Mel

What SCSI IDs do you have each drive on? Do you have a spare cable and is there an active terminator on the end of the bus?

I'm sure its not the cable and the bus 'IS' terminated. Mel

Disconnect the CD drive, then run HDToolbox and select your HDD. If a requester comes up saying "drives have been added or removed", let it save the changes. Then connect the CD drive again. Bye, Thomas |

What version ROM is in the A2091?
You can try setting the HD RDB to LASTDEV or something like that - I forget). It marks the drive as the "last device in the chain" so that the Amiga stops looking for further boot devices after it finds this. I have almost the same setup as you. |

What drivers are you using for the CDROM?
