You have to select one of the cybergrap X screenmodes in the workbench screenmode prefs. Be carefull to select one that you are sure your monitor can display. If in doubt first select "use" not "save" so your setting will be back to the previous setting after a reboot

sounds like you need to configure a monitor in CGXmode in either tools or prefs. i can't remember which one.... might take a bit of tweeking, and if you have a CRT, finding out the monitors min/max khz/hz scan rates, or if you have an LCD, use the 85khz monitor profile, but then set all the screen modes to 60hz VESA mode refresh by editing each mode and selecting from the pre-defined mode dropdown box...

the logo means that cybergrafx has initialised the card correctly, and is using the drivers to create a standard 31Khz VGA screen, and shove a boot logo picture to the card. workbench doesn't need to have or know about any screen modes for this to happen. just the drivers giving you the thumbs up that all is well with the software talking to the hardware.
next stage is to create some screen modes. i'm guessing that during the cybergrafx install, you chose "none", for your monitor configuration when it asked for your monitors max KHZ value. this means you have to configure your monitor manually in CGXMode. you might even be lucky enough to be able to find and select your montior in CGXMode and it'll setup a pre-defined set of screen modes... once done here, hit save, it'll ask to reboot, and then you should have a load of new screen modes to choose from in screenmode prefs to use for workbench or other applications...

I had a similar issue a couple of years ago with CGFX4 and a CybervisionPPC card. As I recall there are a few compatibility problems between OS3.9 and CGFX4, so you needed to apply two patches to it.
I documented everything in this thread in case anyone had the same problems in the future. It kind of rants on for a bit, so you might as well jump right to the last post where I've summarised everything. The links to the GGFX updates I mentioned in that thread (not the ones on Aminet) no longer appears to be valid, seems the CGFX support pages are no more?? I've copied the rc5 and rc6 CGFX4 updates to my webserver here. |

That's the problem if you have 3.9 + Boing Bag 2 installed and CGX 4 is too old .
Found this: web.archive.org: cgxv42_rc5.lha Well, 10 mins late... |

awesome! thats the bunny! :-)
i guess can you drag and drop the piccolo monitor from the cybergraphx install folders to devs:monitors? that should then give you the right .info file with the arguments in there you need... the wrong/missing icon in devs:monitors sounded suspisious... @castellen i guess for every clean install there is one that isn't so easy... :-( glad you perseviered though :-D @zipper i've had nothing but trouble with boingbag2. even to the point where it won't install with a non amiga formated partition being present (macintosh partition for fusion). so i just don't bother with it anymore...
