Stop buying Amiga Joysticks Please!
« on: January 31, 2008, 10:48:32 PM »
I just wonder often if Amigans are aware that SEGA Genesis gamepads contain 2 buttons that the Amiga can use (B, and C) while ALL Amiga joysticks only have 1 button (yes some have 2 or 3 but they are the same button....button B)

Can't understand why people keep buying Single button Amiga Joysticks other than for nostalgic reasons............such as the Excellent Wico joysticks and Cheetah Bugs (want one of hese BADLY!) <------I'm all for these ones! :-)

Sega Pads let you play games like: Turrican 1, 2, 3 and Project X for other powers instead of having to press the Space Bar (How annoying as heck.......having to get up from my comfy couch to come press the space bar)

Buy SEGA Genesis or SEGA Master System Pads People!   you wont regret it.

Or at least buy CD32 Pads (these don't seem to work as replacements for SEGA PADS and wont work with Project X'x second button feature....wonder why?)

I think this is the same as people thinking that Deluxe Paint was Amiga's best paint package.

Brilliance Decrowned them years ago.

CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

I had the SEGA Master System once upon a time. I can honestly say that the game controller is a piece of crap. Give me a Zipstik any day!

I'm sure that there are decent game controllers that can be used in the Amiga joystick port, but I just prefer a joystick to a game controller. Simple as that.

Oh, and by the way. Are you selling gamepads, since you posted this in the marketplace forum?

Sorry, Atari 2600 joysticks all the way man! Can't beat a classic stick like that with a gamepad. No tacile feedback at all. I'll hit space.
I think, Therefore - Amiga....

@ leirbag

I agree that the Sega are great, especially the big metal console sticks.  I have always had to modify mine to get more than one button to work.

The pad for the CD32 worked for me without modifications, as I remember the few times I used it.

In truth, I don't do a lot of joystick-type gaming, but it seems that derived buttons (those other than those hard-wired to the port) might be interpretted differently from one game to the next. So far, I haven't taken the time to confirm this.

I believe there are several (different?) methods to modify Sega pads.  One set of instructions come with the docs for ADoom.

since most Amiga joystick have TWO fire buttons that are connected in parallel, why not simply change the wire and seperate them..
Better sorry than worry.

I hate gamepads/joypads/whatever you call them. Whenever I play on a console (any) with a joypad I just miss the grip of a good sturdy joystick. I mean, just try to play F18-A Interceptor with a gamepad - it just feels wrong!

I like the Competition Pro, but the first joystick I ever had is still my favourite: the Quickshot Python 1. For me this is the best joystick ever made, and I've played with dozens of types.

In which joyport does that plug in? And do you prefer a joyport on the front (A2000) or back (A500)?
