Amiga 1200 preservation: "The Capacitor Menace"
« on: January 12, 2008, 10:07:17 PM »
Hello all

I was thinking that our hardware (even Amiga Technologies hardware) is getting somewhat old by now, and I read threads about people having problems with battery leakage here and there, but...

What about those capacitors in the Amiga 1200 motherboards? I have an Amiga 1200 computer for daily use, and a brand-new, unused Amiga 1200 computer I got from Vesalia years ago, stored for the future. Will I find it dead in the future because of capacitors leakage? I think I'm feelong ill just because of thinking about it...There's no new Amiga hardware  at sigh, and if our old hardware dies...

What do you know about the "Capacitor Menace"?  Does it happend in unused hardware?
