Ok, experts I need you help on this one. This monitor looks like it meets the frequency needs to handle all AGA modes from my A4000 but I don't want to buy one to test it. It would sure be a lot less expensive than a Scan Doubler, if I can even find one.

From the sites I checked for AGA compatible monitors many of them listed the same frequencies but I'd really like someone who has been on the scene to confirm for me. I'm just coming back and I'm really rusty.

Horizontal Refresh Rate      15 kHz - 80 kHz
Vertical Refresh Rate    50 Hz - 90 Hz

Sceptre X9g-Naga

-Nyle
I think, Therefore - Amiga....

The frequencies are 100% correct.  You can display all AGA screenmodes with those.

p.s. Please tell that guy from Australia about this monitor.  Thanks. :-)

So for $179, I get a 17" LCD monitor that handles all of my AGA/ECS modes. That's sure a lot less expensive than a non-existent or used SD/FF.

I think I'm going to go for it.

Careful, the specs on Sceptre's site are different than what Newegg is listing...

How about this:

This is the Naga V your link pointed to Naga.

Couple of things:

16.2M color display

It's not an 8-bit panel, the color loss might not bother you though.

Also, there's no guarantee it will handle laced modes without ill effects... only thing you can do is try and see.

Be careful, those specs are not accurate. I purchased one of these not long ago and when it arrived the Manual on the CD that came with it has the specs as:
24 kHz - 80 kHz.

I called Sceptre, but their tech support couldn't give me a definite answer as to what the correct frequencies are on their LCD monitors. If you look at their website, all of the LCD monitors vary from 15 kHz to 31 kHz in the Horizontal and I was hoping that this one thats sepc'd as 15 kHz on the Website would work with a stock Amiga, but it didn't. I plan on trying some more of their other monitors, but finding them is a bit tough, and I don't won't to have a room full of monitors I'm not using.

Darn, so the 15Khz in the specs of the NAGAV(gamer) is incorrect. It won't actually sync to 15Khz. Darn, I was hoping to not only use desktop but play games on it.

I found these monitors that claim to be multi format capable and handle EGA/CGA and older formats 15Khz and up. They seem to make several desktop models from 12"-19". I've contacted a reseller for pricing.

I also bought one, used, because of the 15KHz spec I found on-line.  Sadly, mechy is correct, it does not sync to direct Amiga RGB video output.  :boohoo:

Don't believe everything you read.

I will not get another monitor until someone actually gets that model working on an Amiga, but if everyone does this, it makes for a chicken and egg problem.
