Amiga Marketplace This forum is here so that members can alert other members to Amiga items they've seen on eBay (or other auctions). If you are selling Amiga items on eBay, you might let us know about them here. Likewise, if you're selling Amiga items sans eBay, this is the "for sale" forum.

Default Top Gear on the Amiga

You may be wondering how this thread is even remotely related to the Amiga.

Well, you see, I just got finished watching the latest episode on my Amiga came to the realisation after ten series that their are some basic similarities behind one's success and the other's failure.

After several years of research and painstaking hours, Amiga came up with a computer that was truly revolutionary and in some cases was as much as 20 years ahead of the competition. However, Amiga was purchased by a company that did not see its true potential and squandered the technology.

Top gear on the other hand is just about having fun and playing with toys, making toys and racing toys. It's just plain fun. Some of their ideas are just plain nuts while others are remarkablely entertaining <- something TV needs.

The Amiga was fun to many early adopters. It added excitement and fun to our lives through video games, making music and playing with graphics and video to name a few. It's was simply a fun machine to anyone that had one.

Unlike Top Gear, The Amiga was run by a bunch of folks that did not understand the technology, did not know how to play and most definitely did not have a creative bone in their bodies.

Contrast this to the early Amiga team, how they had fun and how well they worked together.

It's too bad marketing at Commodore showcase the truly incredible technology in a fun and entertaining way. Early interviews with COmmodore Execs were way too starchy. At least NewTek got it right -- too bad they did not take over the company.

Granted, someone their ads were narrated by a guy that sounded like he was on pot, but hey, he did sound like he was having fun!
