Default Resolution Question?..................

Hi i have just recently installed my miggy 1200 into a custom tower and everything is working fine and plan to get a mediator and a voodoo gfx card for it also but the question i am asking is, is it possible to have high resolutions like 1280 by 1024 with a 1200lc accelerator with 8 megs of ram?

I dont know how an Amiga uses PCI cards, but most PC video cards like the Voodoo have their own RAM. That may help some, but I dont know how the Amiga addresses that RAM vs its own RAM.

Hello, the Mediator can use either a 4MB transfer window or 8MB transfer window for data transfer to the Voodoo PCI card.

8MB Fast RAM may be limiting but it is possible to use this configuration with a Mediator.

Well for mediator ,"The minimum hardware configuration is: Amiga 1200 in tower case with a 4MB RAM expansion card. The recommended configuration is: Amiga 1200 in Winner/Power/E-BOX tower case, any 68060 (or PPC with 68060) turbo card with 64MB RAM, a SharkPPC G3/G4 card with 128MB SDRAM, a Voodoo3 graphic card" .
So you could have high resolution screen But it will be also too slow for real use.I have a similar setup and i plan to set it up from the begining but dont think it will be fast enough for some eye-candy . Anyway i think that without a fast accelerator card you cant get much ....

The high recommended requirements stated by Elbox are there for Warp3D.

With a modest system you can make use of the 2D graphics modes. We built a tower system last week with Mediator, Voodoo, SB128 and 030 accelerator running 1024x768x16 - system performance was adequate.
