I spotted this thingie on Ebay:

Does anyone here have one of these cards? TBBOAH doesn't seem to have info on it (at least, not in the Bridgeboard section)...

It's another auction from amix68k, btw, but I'm pretty much interested if this card is really useful. Would be cool to have a 1.4GHz processor in my A4000 :-D

Hmmm, actually, this looks like a regular passive PC-on-ISA card, nothing to do with Amiga. It only takes power from the ISA slot.

If so, the systems are 100% separate, the only way to get them to communicate is to use serial link or something similar. Far from bridgeboard...

If you want something like this, you'd actually probably be better off by cramming some VIA EPIA inside the Amiga. :-)

It's not a bridgeboard - it doesn't plug into a Zorro slot, and can't communicate with the host Amiga at all. It's just a PC on a card that takes its power from the ISA slot.

Look closely, this ain't no bridgeboard at all (not connected to the Zorro-slot), but just a bog-standard PC-on-a-card. You can do all the same by just putting a real PC next to your Amiga and have it connected via serial or ethernet.

I dont think its a *AMIGA* board.. I think its just a PC on a board that uses power from your ISA slot.

those cards are Single Board Computers , SBC for short...
they are isa/pci/isa+pci combo cards, used in industrial applications or in machinery as complete systems. They can be coupled with special backplanes that have isa/pci slots and activate them, or co-exist with other sbc's ...
that is no amiga hardware, it is a complete standalone system that just takes power from the amiga like Piru said. there is no integration with the amiga, u need a seperate keyboard/mouse/monitor/hd/fdd etc...
plus u need to be carefull, as this higher end sbc's can take more power than what a standar amiga psu can deliver.

This is indeed a SBC, single board computer as mentioned before. One thing you should remember: Pentium3, Pentium4 or even Xeon's (yes you can quite easily find xeon SBC's on ebay) take A LOT more power then the old Amiga is used to giving out on it's ISA bus. That's what I am most worried about. It would be easy for me placing one in my Micronik A4000 tower, but am really afraid I'll fry one or more power lines along the ISA slots/micronik busboard or even the A4000 board.

Can anyone elaborate on this? I have seen SBC's which have their own AT power connector (or even ATX), would placing a second PS in the A4000 (ATX for instance) enable me to have two physically seperated machines in one case?

Other option would be using a mini ITX board, or even one which would fit in a 5.25" slot.

BTW: These can be found MUCH cheaper on ebay, have a search on Ebay for "SBC"

The board worked fine in my A2000 (Blizzard 060, CV64/3D, VLabt-Motion, Toccata and X-Surf), so PSU seems no problem.
Please note that this card is one of the very rare that work in 8 Bit ISA. Most 2000s have 16 Bit ISA-Slots only in conjunction with Zorroboards, so the board does not fit properly.
I have searched for this card a long time, because it is not a standard card. But you are compeltely right it is not a bridgeboard, which is nowhere stated in the auction. For me it is the perfect card, to have all things (browser, office, etc.) in one box.

What about using such a board in conjonction with an ISA Siamese in an A2000? Can the Siamese plugged in an ISA slot work with this board as a regular PC board?

No. This card is not a bridgeboard so will not bridge the other ISA slots on the A4000 daughterboard on to the SBC's ISA bus. If you want to do that, then you would have to use a bridgeboard.

That won't work - you can't have more than one host on the ISA backplane. There is no known hardware that'd allow both the Amiga and the PC hosts to communicate with each other through the slots. You'd have to use some serial, parallel or network connection.
