8MB RAM and GVP Spectrum in Zorro II memory space
« on: March 24, 2007, 11:15:02 PM »
Does my memory serve me?  I am considering putting 8MB on the GVP SCSI controller in my Amiga 2000, which is also loaded with a GVP Spectrum video card.  The system is currently off-line so I cannot check this live on the system, and I thought a thread dedicated to this would be good for posterity.

ISTR that the video card will share some of the Zorro II memory space for the 8MB of RAM, and therefore I would have to put less RAM on the card.  Is this correct?

This is not a terribly big issue for me.  I have a Blizzard 2060 with 128MB in the system, but I am thinking about using the GVP SCSI card on an external Zip drive, and it made sense to me that the card would DMA better to FastRAM mapped in the Zorro II space.

Thats correct. The Spectrum takes 2 MB, so the max you could put on the GVP is 6 MB.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.
