The authors of MakeCD decided to make it available for free. Get you free license key here

Thanks, this will make up for the irritation I endured when initially registering MAkeCD by snailmail, and also having to re-enter my registration key after x amount of time had passed
I wonder which version that key is for?

it seems a filesystem issue. Which system? and filesystem?

Try to type it manually (not copy&paste) hitting the return key on every string.
