Amiga Marketplace This forum is here so that members can alert other members to Amiga items they've seen on eBay (or other auctions). If you are selling Amiga items on eBay, you might let us know about them here. Likewise, if you're selling Amiga items sans eBay, this is the "for sale" forum.

Piracy, plain and simple. Why would you offer Joe Public the chance of getting his 3.5/3.9 CD back?

I can imagine IF someone who sounds genuine asks someone for a 3.5/3.9 CD because they have lost it, a friend may help. To openly go on ebay selling software on a CD-R, that's simply ripping the respective company off.

If he is only charging for his time, resources, and the CD itself, why is it on auction? Surely he can calculate his time, resources etc. and put it on a Buy it Now listing.

This guy should be banned from eBay.

What I don't get is why would you do this when you have a seller's reputation of:

Score: 300 | 100% Positive

Well, I'm not going to personally report him to eBay but if someone else decides to perhaps they should contact him first and give him a chance to remove them himself. Like you say, he has very good ratings which I guess could suggest he's a generally decent/honest type of person. Maybe he just genuinely feels there's nothing wrong in what he's doing. Who knows.

Hi guys....actually, I'm the individual who listed those items.

Here's a response that I recently wrote...
__________________________________________________ ______________________________________________

Thank you so much for the superfantastic forum URL, it's greatly appreciated. Wow....well, it looks like there certainly are some concerns in the on-line Amiga community. Being a member of the Amiga community myself (although I'm certainly not as active as I once was), I completely understand. My intentions were certainly never to overly alarm anyone, and all of my eBay auctions 'are what they are'. Anyone is more than welcome to read as little or as much into them as they see fit. Personally, I feel that I'd be doing the awesome Amiga community a great disservice if I just tossed this aside. This is a one-time only auction and if it's able to help out a fellow Amiga 'friend' who has a legitimate need, than so be it. If for nothing else, I truly hope that this auction keeps the Amiga community thriving. Thanks again and take care.

I'm sorry to upset anyone.

Take care,
-Scott :-?

Well no one needs to worry, both listings have been removed by Ebay.

Good is all I can say.

Well, I certainly wasn't trying to "fool" anyone. I believe the auction was fairly self-explanatory.

And as Swift mentioned...they have been pulled. If eBay feels it was in violation then I'm very glad that they were, although I thought that I listed it correctly to adhere to their guidelines.

In any case, perhaps we were able to spark enough interest for a short time to help grow Amiga.org's awareness and the overall awareness of the Amiga community in general.

'Miggy on!

Take care,

I'm really confused. I'm sure if you polled the regulars at Amiga.org, the vast majority would a) know what OS 3.5 and 3.9 are and b) know where to purchase them. That place could well be Amigakit http://www.amigakit.com amongst others. These companies which are working so hard in very difficult times to provide a first class service and reasonable prices could do without people selling blatant copies online. Would you burn multiple copies of OS X Tiger and stick them on EBay expecting to get away with it? How could you not think that they're in violation of EBay's rules?? Raise YOUR awareness, hang around here a bit and check out the Amigakit webiste.
