Hi,
I have an Amiga 1200 with DCE FF and Blizzard 1230-IV 50MHz+FPU+64Meg combo in a desktop case. Recently I fitted a 2G CF card as a HDD with an adapter. Symptom is, that after running certain programs(Sumea demo for e.g.) after soft reset the CF card is recognized, but instead of loading the WB I get a nice requester saying: Not a dos disk in device dh0. After that sometimes I get green or yellow screen at subsequent resets tries and booting WB never succeeds. Only turning off/on the machine helps. If I don't run these certain progs, then I can reset the machine from keyboard as many times as I can and WB always comes in. I tried to play with the maxtransfer values and I changed them to 512b, 64k and 128k values without any help. Currently I have 2 suspects: * Not enough power for the CF card or overall in the system. I currently use an A500 power supply and I believe it is kind of weak for this combo. Yet to try an ATX PS. * Bad cable. But why does it work then sometimes and why does the problem come after running certain programs? Ppl with similar setup can you please give advice or share your thoughts? Thanks in advance, Chris |

Correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought a soft reset doesn't clear all the memory used by software - perhaps some aspect of code from the program/demo is either still operational or trying to be after a soft reset hence your problem arising with certain software titles.

Could be. I got another version of Sumea(WHDLOAD version) and it runs pretty OK and problem doesn't occur afterwards. Some other sw still produce the same problem however. Will check different versions of them.
Interestengly in winuae everything is fine and haven't experienced this problem yet... |
