Default Mediator and Voodoo

Are there any benefits using a 5500 or 4500 over a 3000 for instance?

Nope, only benefit would be extra 16mb graphics memory which I doubt you will use.

The Voodoo 4 & 5 isn't 100% compatible with the Voodoo driver either which were originally made for for the Voodoo 3.

If you plan to use a G-rex and run MorphOS a Voodoo 4 or 5 would be more useful

In what way are they not 100% compatible?
Is there anything in particular that is noticable?
Also apart from being able to use a monitor, are there any other benefits to using this type of setup?

Hmm, that's quite big.
Have managed to get my hands on a 5500 and 4500.
Might have to get a 3000 instead.
At the moment, I haven't been able to display at all any game requirng a 15bit screenmode.

Weird, sounds like you must have done something wrong when installing Picasso96 or using the old Picasso96 version or maybe using old Mediator drivers

Hmm was under the impression this was normal.
Am using 2.1b P96 and the latest update for the Mediator.
Should I be able to see most games or a particular type?
WHD insatlled games for example.

Games should work but look weird

Whdload games can only been seen in native gfx modes (AGA, ECS etc)

What games have you tried that didn't work?

That explains why it didn't work with your Voodoo :-P

Those games will only show up on a monitor connected to your RGB port, a scandoubler or your TV

yes, a graphics card on the amiga cannot substitute the chipset (aga/ecs/ocs) because games use them directly...

Thought that would be the case, which is why I hadn't really tried.
Only noticed because I had accidently left my monitor on when I was using the telly next to it.
(Use this for games)
Have tried some games that should work through a graphics card/p96 and have had no problems.
What I did find strange is that ADOM wouldn't display.

Have just downloaded ModPro, will give a go now.
Thanks all.

Works well up to a point.
Unit icons don't show and neither does the highlight bar.
Am using a 4500.
Perhaps this would be ok with a 3000.
