Humm...well, I take it that you are using the Amiga 500s composite video output and hooking that into a video input on your TV. If that is the case there may be something wrong with the composite output on the Amiga or the input on the TV. You should at least see something. The composite out will not show as much detail as an RGB monitor and the colors may be wrong. You would need a composite to video converter.

I had my A500 setup like this (without a converter) a few years ago and it worked ok.

Let us know if you have a different setup. And make sure you are using a video cable.

There are three ways to connect your A500 to the TV:

1. use a standard chinch cable to connect the composite video out of the Amiga to the composite video in of the TV as described above. This will give a grey picture. Not wrong colors but no colors at all. With this method you get the best picture on the TV. Pin sharp but grey.

2. use the Amiga monitor cable to connect the Amiga to the Scart input of your TV. For this to work the TV must be able to utilize the RGB lines of the Scart plug. Most modern TVs can do that. They usualy say something like "can also be used as a monitor" in their advertisings.

3. Connect the Amiga monitor output to the compsite video input of the TV or even to the HF input of the TV. For this you need a converter, a so called TV modulator (for example the A520). With this modulator you get a colorful (but somewhat blurred) picture on every TV.

Bye,
Thomas

Have you got a A520 Modulator plugged into the back of your Amiga. Without it, it ain't gonna work on any TV I know of. Should look something like this.

RF out (wire connected from here to your TV)
__l_l__
..............l
...C<......l= Video out (nothing plugged in)
..A520..l
..MOD...l= Audio in (connected to left & right audio at back of ..............l Amiga.)
..............l
..............l.......................Audio left & right
______l_____________l_l__l_l______________________
.................................................. .................................................. .........l
.................................................. ..................................Amiga.500.....l

It's hard to do ascii art on A.Org, I hope it helps.
