Default NEW! A1000 Phoenix boards

Did I get anyones attention?

How many of you would be interested in purchasing an A1000 Phoenix replacement motherboard if a new production run could be arranged?

If I knew how to set this up as a Poll here on A.org, I would, but I don't.

I am not saying I have any inside information that this can be done, but if there is sufficient interest, I will make every effort to make contact and make it happen.

I will be the first to say I want one.

Who else?

@amigadave

Would that be the sort of deal where you'd just remove the custom chips from your old motherboard and put them on the Phoenix one?

@weirdami

Yes.

Maybe if this can be organized well, you can buy chips en masse from some vendors for distribution with the new boards, but that is purely hypothetical.

So as a start for a new motherboard-run, please expect to butcher old (hopefully defunct) systems.

Have fun,
McTrinsic

If I could get all the needed custom chips from somewhere then I'd say yeah.. But I don't have an A1000.. and if I did I'd want it in orig condition... But I WOULD like a phoenix system.. lol

Very interested but price has to be a factor.I need to know how much before committing.Have two 1000s so I guess one could be a chip donor.

It is my understanding that the custom chips can only come from existing systems, or dealers that have stock of old chips. I have to do some more research as to which Agnus chip will work, but I believe that the square shaped one from the A500, A2000 and A3000 is the one needed, in 1mb or 2mb (fatter and fattest Agnus) versions. I think the rest of the parts needed are still available from what has been said in that other A1000 Phoenix thread.

I have no idea what the cost will be, but the last run was reasonable, so if we can get 50 to 100 people interested, and/or a couple of the few remaining dealers, we should be able to justify the production.

Software Hut, Amiga Kit, Vesalia????

I don't think this will be worthwhile with just 10 or 15 interested buyers.

You can find A1000 systems quite cheap and sometimes free if you look hard enough and in the right places. As for keeping it in original condition, that is great if you are a collector (like me) and want to put it on a shelf and only use it once or twice a year, but with the cost so low to find them, get two and just keep one stock.
