I'd love one, but getting it on to my Blizzard 1260 would mean de-soldering the 50MHz chip

@Motorollin
If you get a replacement 68060 make sure that it is an MC68060RC50 with mask E41J as they run well at upto 100MHz and have (unlike the 75MHz version here) an MMU and FPU |

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately given my soldering skills there will be no chance of me upgrading my Blizzard 1260. That is unless I was planning to upgrade it to a pile of melted plastic.

shaving pennies off production costs shaved dollars off retail cost. it also may have fit better on the board and in the system. sockets add several mm to the height and if it is 040 originally it most likely needed a hs and possibly fan as well

Are the 040 and 060 boards compatible then? That is you can take a B1240, _carefully_ desolder the 040 and replace it with an 060 and make your own B1260?

@Marco, pan1k
The B1240 can be upgraded to a B1260, but there is more to it than just replacing the CPU. You'll need to install a voltage regualtor as well, maybe even a bit more. |

@ alexh:
Hi, Do you know if any amiga accellerators will actually run an 060 @ 100MHz? What's involved in achieving that? Cheers. |

Only card I know of that can take that CPU is the Apollo1260. The rest have libs that count on the 060 have internal FPU/MMU so when it doesn't and things need calculated it goes crashing down.
