I like computers to be small. What I'm considering is transferring my A1200 into a new case, custom made, small as possible. Basically a compact desktop unit that will sit nicely underneath my monitor. Or possibly, wall mounted behind it - there's plenty of space behind the flatscreen monitor!
When you look inside A1200, there's no circuit board further to the right of the joystick port - the mouse port is on an extra lead - so the case only really needs to go as far as about the Help key on the keyboard. But then there's the accelerator, which goes further right than that. What I'm thinking there is put a riser on the trapdoor slot so that the accelerator actually sits on top of the motherboard. Can you buy such things or am I going to have to make one somehow? The keyboard will be of course be seperate (how does one use a PC keyboard with an Amiga?). |

There are several 'Amiga PC keyboard interface' solutions. Type the quoted text in google and enjoy!
There are fastram expantions that are very short. You could try to find one of those. Ofcourse there is no market for accelerator slot adapters so buying things like that is very unlikely. Have you considered a mini-itx running UAE? Or follow the minimig effort. They will not come much smaller.

I knew a guy in the late 80s that took his A500 and literaly cut the motherboard in half, reconnected all the traces he cut with wire extentions and placd it in a small square box less then half the size of the original case. And yes it did work but I have no idea where he is now or I would get a picture of it.
Just crazy what some people will do. :-D

mini-itx is cool because you can run uae and aros on it, and you can fit mini-itx mobo almost anywhere. ive seen them in old nes cases and stuff.
