I have two different SCSI hard drives, both I was told worked fine, but neither I can get working in my Amiga 3000.
The first drive is 1GB. If I put it in alone, it does not spin up. But if I put it in, and put an external SCSI CD-ROM drive plugged in the back of the 3000, then it spins up, but still is never detected.
The second drive is 9GB. If I put it in by itself it spins up, or with the SCSI drive, it spins up, either way.. But also not detected by the HDToolBox on an Install 3.1 floppy disk.
I am using the built in controller of the Amiga 3000, on a Rev 9.03 motherboard with 3.1 ROMs. I do not have any way of making new disks, as I sold off all other Amiga equipment.
Here is more detail about the drives, I am wondering if it is a jumper problem on the drives. I did make sure to try different SCSI ID's already.
The 1GB drive is a Toshiba Model MK537FB and has the following jumpers:
ID0
ID1
ID2
LED
TPWR
IDXO
IDXI
PE
START
?T?N (The ? marks are covered up by holes on the board)
TEST
The following jumpers are closed (have a jumper installed):
ID0, TPWR, IDXI, PE, START, ?T?N
This is a 50pin drive that I was told to be working in a Amiga 1200.
The other drive is a "9.1GB 7200 RPM Wide Ultra 2 SCSI" drive, Compaq P/N: 120852-001. Also says MODEL MAE3091LP, and says FUJISTU LIMITED at the bottom. It has a 68pin connector on it and I used a 68pin-50pin adaptor to connect it to the Amiga's 50pin SCSI cable.
It has the following jumpers:
ID0
ID1
ID2
ID3
WRITE PROT
START CMD
SINGLE/WIDE
DIFFSENS
SP SYNC
IDD RESET
LED
TERM PWR EN
The following jumpers are closed (have jumper installedd):
ID0, TERM PWR EN
I have of course tried a different SCSI cable. I also have an LVD terminator, but when it's installed the Amiga does not boot and the HDD light is lit on both the drive and the Amiga's HDD light.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Neofree
