Hi!
Wondering if it is easy to install Linux on my Amiga 1200 with Apollo 1260?
Is Debian the only distr. ? Does it has "graphical interface" and not textbased?
How will Linux perform on the Amiga? Fast, slow?

a1200 netbsd server debian works too. you can download netbsd as iso image. i have a lot versions of amiga/unix like os but never have time to try serius so far...

Well I have installed debian linux on my A1200/apollo 1240/40mhz on the year of 1999
so I don't remember very well some things but I can tell you that was a very dificult job and was only for test purposes

I have installed X as well as graphical interface and worked but very slow,so consider that your turboboard is a bit faster than my apollo board (30 mips SYSINFO) don't expect miracles

on the other side I can tell you that the installation was very very stable but not very useful cause lack of 68k programs available
so..if you have time make a try,and don't forget to use remapollo there to map rom into fastmemory for faster speed

How is this possible? All programs are available for all architectures in Debian. Just apt-get install and go.

How is this important for linux? Linux doesn't use the Amiga KS rom at all once started, thus access speed of the ROM is irrelevant.

But Adoom, is for workbench, so it is using the kickstart. have you tried any doom under linux?. What Piru said is since the kick is not used under linux, performance having it in ram or not is irrelevant.

All non-platform-specific programs are available in 68k form in debian. If something is missing, it's missing from debian altogether, not only debian 68k.

Nonsense. Linux never addresses the Amiga KS ROM area. Mapping the KS ROM to fastmem has no effect at all on linux.

Under AmigaOS there naturally is a difference since KS ROM is accessed all the time (even if your program X is not using OS calls).
