Hello, long time user, first time poster. It's been a long time away from Amiga, finally getting back into it.
So... Bought my A1200 a Linksys EC2T PCMCIA card today. Plugged it in, got it working, got rid of the few conflicting software programs. What I'd like to do is network it to my Dell PC for (hopefully) purposes of file & print sharing, as well as sharing an internet connection already on the Dell. Anybody here been where I am now and can offer any advice? Already have an older version of Miami which looks like it should work, but should I get Genesis? Samba? What sort of software do you recommend? Thank you very much. |

Not a complete guide, but AmigaSamba.org has quite a deal of information on this subject.

I use Miami and Samba here on my Pegasos, and it was very easy to setup.
Go to Miami's 'database', select 'hosts', add ip, name and alias(being the name of that computer.) and save settings. I have made a script that sets up networking: run >nil: smbfs Domain=plah volume=audio: client=foo "//dcs2/audio (e)" wait 4 run >nil: smbfs Domain=plah volume=wares: client=foo "//dcs2/wares (h)" where dcs2 is the name of one of my networked computers. |

:-D And definately try Samba. That combination is what I use to link my A4000 and A3000 to my WinNT PC, and they share files just fine. Mind you, I haven't tried sharing the Internet connection yet, and I don't have a printer. |
