Default Just Won My A3000 I have been seeking

Greetings all:

I am the happy new owner of an Amiga A3000 16/50...I am not sure what the latter means, or if it is just a normal designation. But anyhow, hoped someone could shed some light.

The question would be what is the "16/50"?

Thanks,

Mike

I believe I was looking at that system as well (8766138384?)... even got him to send me some pics. Battery looks spotless. Sorry to say it doesn't have any FAST RAM Zip chips from what I could tell though...

The 16/50 means its a 16MHz 030 with a 50MB hard drive. It's actually a 40MB drive though as that's how (if I remember correctly) C= sold them.

Yep, that is it. I am sure I have a bit of work to do on her, but it looks like a fine base system.

Since my A4000 has been off getting repaired at Amiga Center I've had time to get to the A3000 I won last year. I'm happy to report it's one of the nicest Amigas I've owned. I upgraded the fast ram to 16 mb last week and the difference is amazing. No problems browsing anymore!

Congrats on winning your 3000!

I just sold a 3000 16/50 and it was a nice machine, I miss it already. I bought an A4000T or I would have never let it go. You will enjoy it for a long time to come. A graphics card like an old Picasso II would be a big help.

Congratulations!
Keep an eye on the battery.

The A3K I sold back in late 98 / early 99 (I can't remember exactly, but I just dug an old pic of it out ) was a 25MHz with 16 Fast, 2 Chip, a 2GB HD (after the 100GB died), and a Picasso IV.

If I remember correctly, the first time I ever browsed the web was on an Amiga running Voyager. Though I can't remember if it was the A3K or the A500 I used to have...

Congrats on the a3000! I'm glad i got one too, it seems to be the easiest amiga to get cheaply working with a standard pc monitor, and that means a lot to me.

Yes, the A3000 for some reason seems to be the most complete Amiga ever. They should've released the AGA version...

Hey all:

Yep, I will have to do something about the fast ram and find a Picasso IV, though I fear that will be another bit of investment in the machine. I already now plan to buy the keyboard and mouse adapters to use PC keyboards as well as my Dell M770 monitor with the machine and a nice KVM so that I can switch between my PC and Amiga at Will... Poor Will, he is always the brunt of things ;-)

I am sure I will be posting more as I get the machine, which BTW is my second ever Amiga... sold my A500 sometime back, but wanted more expandability, hence this purchase.

At this moment, I am very happy and my wife is not really understanding why I would spend what I did... I suppose it is a geek thing :-D

But anyways, more as the story unfolds.
