Default amiga 2000 and external diskdrive??
i have a 2000 with one internal diskdrive and i have put a external diskdrive in the diskdrive port. is it necessary for me to jumper J301 i believe is correct on the motherboard this jumper tells the machine that there are either one or two diskdrives? or is that merely for the internal drives. please advise and thanks

Afaik, this only affects the internal drives. The first external will show up as DF2, even if there is no DF1 present.
I've used an external floppy on my A2000, and never even though to fool with the jumper
