Hello All,
I finaly managed to get my hands on a PAL A1000 this week.
I'm in the process of uploading photos in the A1000 section, so keep looking!
Does anyone have any RAM expansions for the A1000 for sale...or FREE to a GOOD HOME???
The machine only has the BASIC 256Kb addon..thus it a bare 512Kb system
I have Kickstart V1.3 and Workbench V1.3 which I'm happy with as I prefer the Classic Look..
Also whats the BEST Scandoubbler to use with a A1000 as it's OCS chipset ??

Ram expansions for the A1000 are pretty rare and much wanted About the scandoubler, if they are not sold out yet you can find an Indivision at KDH Datentechnik or at Vesalia

Although it won't look good... you can use most of the external A500 expansions on the 1000. It's just that the slot is on the other side and about an inch higher. So the unit will look backwards and you'll have to set it on something... like a short stack of old AmigaWorlds. :-)

There are some hacks on Aminet, like the one to add a 2000 style slot to a 500. That ought to work on a 1000. I had one of the commercial expansion boxes for the 1000, and used a CBM ram card & trumpcard SCSI in it for a long time.

I was sort of thinking about that,
I also wonderd if it was possible (space allowing) to make a edge connector ZORRO?? that will double back into the A1000, then place just the contents of a RAM EXPANDER on the inside of the case.
It would not take much to build , useing a breadboard type setup or a make your own PCB kit etc
I know the edge connector is Double sided so I will have to bear that in mind as well.
What realy concerns me is NOISE...would a homemade connector be too long???

I don't think you can do that, for space reasons. The A1000's floppy drive is going to be in the way. On the Phoenix box I had, there was about 3" from the expansion slot to the first Zorro slot, and about the same to the passthru on the other side.. although I think they were being optimistic with the idea of a passthru.
I never had any problems with mine, but I had done all the pal grounds recommended by DKB for their Kwikstart rom board, and ran a ground lead out into the expansion box.

I also forgot to mention that my Mainboard does not have a Daughter board on it..
Last time I looked it was a REV 2.xx etc
what does mean in upgrade terms???

I'm not sure what that rev 2 implies... I don't think I've ever seen one. I'm sure all of my 1000s have the daughterboard. Maybe it's something they did for the PAL market.
