Yeah, unlike the A1000 I'm trying to get I stopped bidding on this at about $70US and it's just kept going since. The only think I see kinda odd is the other 2 bidders have a feedback of 1 and 0.

That's an easy one.....MULTISYNC!

Most people (at least here in the US) can no longer find multisync capable monitors so the AMIGA can only be used in productivity mode (31khz). Without a multisync, you cannot use many of the older AMIGA applications. For some reason, alot of people don't consider graphics cards or scan doublers, either for money or compatability reasons.

Couldn't people just use the 1084 series of monitors? Also what about the old NEC 3D?

The old 1084 series had a HORRIBLE flicker at higher (interlaced) resolutions. Yes, it is an option but no one (back then) would keep it if they could upgrade. The old NEC 3D is an option but they can be hard to find, depending on where you live.

Well, since I'm about to own an A4000 and an A1200 what monitor(s) should I use? Or what monitor/monitor interface should I use? I want to be able to use old software, (yes games too), as well as use new stuff and use higher resolutions.

Also does anyone know of any modern monitors that can use the full range that the Amiga uses? What type of RGB to VGA adapter should I use?

The 1960 is also very hard to find as many of them had very poor soldering done on the circuit board (cold solders) and faild prematurly. I bought mine in 1995 and imediatly opend up the back and resolderd all the conections that looked bad and so far its worked great but I dont need it any more so I may sell it.

Scandoublers internal or external work but can cost somewhere around $150-300 depending on what you want. External scandoublers are nice but are hard to find SoftHut had some as well as AmigaKit they are around $150. The Toastscan is the only one that works with the Video Toaster system.

Please be patient with my ignorance on this but are you saying that with an external scandoubler, like the one at Softhut or AmigaKit, I can use a standard monitor with my Amiga and use all display resolutions?

Thanks for your help.

Yes you can, Some monitors dont like it but most will work. People have reported that the output is a bit dark because of the higher power draw of the scandoubler but It works great for me.
