Default SCSIDE Controller

I want to buy this controller.
It converts fast IDE drives to UW SCSI3 drives.

I heard some people using these kind of adaptors on Amiga and BlizzardPPC and CStormPPC SCSI3`s.

Has anyone tried these? Would they run on Amiga?

If it does work, this is the best storage solution for Amiga as SCSI is too expensive.

HI!

Any pics? Show us what you mean.
I know that the SCSI -> IDE worked. A friend of mine has it in his A4000.
Never heard of IDE->SCSI AFIAK

I have a few..

Basically, if you have a SCSI host adapter, you can use a SCSIDE
converter.

Many people have been using them with Amigas.

Oh by the way, be sure to have a software raid (mirror) of two
identical drives or take backups often.

IDE drives can't be depended upon these days. I'm not joking.

You mean you want to hook up a cheap IDE harddisc to a SCSI chain ?? Just get that controller. Shouldn't be a problem. But it's not that cheap, a bit more than 100 euro or dollars. I got mine from KDH Datentechnik but I don't know if they still sell it.

I've got two!!! One is on a Maxtor 40GB drive and it flies compared to it's performance on the 4000 IDE controller. I have another on a Sony DVD drive. I will say that they use slightly more CPU time than a straight SCSI drive, but I can recommend them!!!

I probably will buy two of these.

What harddisk models do work with this controller + amiga?

Would it work with new 120GB hdds? Are there newer technology drives than udma133? (i heard about newer technology drives being sold) Should I go for udma133 drives?

I was thinking to buy a Seagate Baracuda (they are udma133 and 100 models of those drives i think)

Do I need a terminator on the SCSI chain? I also will connect my SCSI3 Yamaha CRW to CStormPPC SCSI (its currently connected to 4000T`s internal scsi2)

It is working fine on my 133 IDE drive. and it will work with the largest drives. Once it is plugged into the drive, for all practical purposes the drive is a SCSI drive...
