Default which PCI bus for AmigaOS4

Hi,

I'm a morphos user.

I would like to get AmigaOS4 but not with an AmigaONE cause it's not more sold and is very expensive.
It seems some solutions will be available since AmigaOS4 will be available.

I'm thinking about BlizzardPPC or PowerVixxen LT. But, which PCI extensions will be supported? PowerVixxen LT
constructor tells about a mediator compatibility. What is the situation for G-REX, Prometheus, etc.

OS4 won't work with G-REX. Only AmigaOS 3.x and MorphOS.

For now only Mediator PCI bus is supported by Os4!

I'm pretty sure the Prometheus is supposed to be supported as well. Sadly the same does not appear to be true for the G-Rex.

Of course, it's unclear when the classic version of OS 4 will be released (if ever).

It definately works with the prometheus. The first OS4 dev systems were A4ks with prometheus boards.

As we're talking A1200 here Mediator will definately work and I'm pretty sure G-REX will also be supported. I can see no logical reason why not. Try asking at AW. If the Freidens arn't too busy they may give you a definate answer on this one.

My advice would be to wait until the Powervixen arrives. The projected price looks to be less than a Blizz PPC + G-REX/Mediator, especially as it comes bundled with OS4. Also I believe the Powervixen should be able to function without an A1200, something to consider when running hardware which ended production in the 90's.

Provided availabity of AMY05/Powervixen boards. I'd imagine that all versions of OS4 will come at the same time.

Well that kinda sucks... No G-Rex support? Being directly connected to the only accellerator that actually supports OS4 (SharkPPC notwithstanding), I'd think it'd be the first PCI solution supported. Hmm.

Mac Mini 1.5GHz, that might run MorphOS someday, when the fools who own it come to the realization that 30 minutes just isn't enough time to play with it enough to decide whether or not you like it enough to cough up $200.

- Someone please design SOME kind of DIY accelerator for the A4000. -
