Thought this might be a good topic after reading a couple of other threads.
Can everyone please state the name of the religion or philosophy they try to lead their life by? Atheist/Humanist count for the sake of this thread. I'll start the ball rolling. I am a Buddhist. |

I'm not a religious person, I don't belong to any faith nor do I believe in any particular God. I suppose you could call me areligious as opposed to an athiest, as I do have a strong interest in faith.
I'm very interested in how and why people believe in what they believe. I have had friends of many different faiths over the years and am fascinated by their experiences. I had a devout Moslem friend at Uni who taught me a lot about her faith and dispelled many preconceptions. Likewise I've got Christian, Catholic and Buddhist friends who've taken the time to explain what their religion means to them personally. |

You say you are a Buddhist. I don't know a lot about Buddhism but are the Five Precepts valid? 1. Do not kill 2. Do not steal 3. Do not indulge in sexual misconduct 4. Do not make false speech 5. Do not take intoxicants I found this interesting too (as regards the Buddhist morality): "...In the admonition given by the Buddha to young Rahula, there is the answer. If there is a deed, Rahula, you wish to do, reflect thus: Is this deed conducive to my harm, or to others' harm, or to that of both? Then is this a bad deed entailing suffering. From such a deed, you must desist." If these are indeed valid how is that reconciled with your current signature 'Jesus Christ was a homosexual'? I mean I would suppose that a true Buddhist would recognise that just as he follows a religion and he would not have his deity/worshipee denigrated, he would also not seek to denigrate the deity or worhipee of another person's religion. Huh? |

Unspecified polytheist.
Or as everybody says these days: I belive in ... umm, humm, umm .... something! :-P I can´t belive in a almighty omnicognizent god like in monotheism, it just doesn´t makes any sense, its impossible for me to belive in that. But otherwise, who really knows? The day Tor or some ancestorspirits or something shows up, sure I will belive in them.

Agnostic. Partly because I don't really care and partly because I don't really know.
Although probably the real reason is that my parents do not support one or the other religion (As I'm quite convinced most people (not *most*) follow the religion they were brought up with). |

Dunno what I am. Some kind of New-age freak. I don't beleive in gods; you'd need a huge astral capacitor to store all that energy, so either God is a cloud or he isn't all powerful. :-)

I am Rational.
for those who have not been paying attention one of my hero's is Asimov.He sometimes called himself a Humanist (especially when he became the national president of The American Humanist Association. "I believe in the scientific method and the rule of reason as a way of understanding the natural Universe. I don't believe in the existence of entities that cannot be reached by such a method... and that are therefore 'supernatural.' I certainly don't believe in the mythologies of our society, in heaven and hell, in God and angels, in Satan and demons... Humanists believe that human beings produced the progressive advance of human society and also the ills that plague it. They believe that if the ills are to be alleviated, it is humans that will have to do the job. They disbelieve in the influence of the supernatural on either the good or the bad of society, on either its ills or the alleviation of those ills." |

@Karlos
I hope the fasting goes well? I do have a (silly) question. What is the difference between a Sunni Muslim and a Shia (or any other doctrine) muslim? |
