I have just bought a CyberSCSI to go with my Cyberstorm Mk2. Last night I connected it up with a small SCSI HDD and it all works fine (
A big plug for Amigakit.com )I began installing the additional software from the accompanying floppy but half way through it asks if I've updated the firmware (I've no idea if the previous owner of the Cyberstorm did this, I certainly haven't) and tells me to quit until I have. Looking at the Mk2Update.doc it says to remove the write protect jumper before proceeding, the card is in the machine and I cant see a write protect jumper. The user manual doesn't show one and the photos on Big Book of Amiga Hardware dont either. I'm hoping someone has been through this and can answer the following questions for me: 1. Is there a way I can tell if the Cyberstorm has already been updated? 2. Should I care - it seems to be working without the additional software and flash ROM update. Am I missing anything without it? 3. Where is the write protect jumper? :-? Thanks all. |

1. Yes it seems that the mkII is already updated...otherwise the SCSI-Modul wouldn't be recognized
2. You're missing nothing :-) 3. The Jumper is on the MkII...but you don't need it now

@ Inewham
Do you have manuals for the Cyberstorm and CyberSCSI? If not, PM me with your email address and I'll send those. The write protect jumper is on the Cyberstorm card next to the CPU. I can make labelled pictures for you if you like and email them to you. |

From the CyberSCSI manual:
Write protect = Open Write = Closed So you need the jumper on to do the update. I was lucky enough to be sent a scan of the manual and a photo of the jumper location, email me if you want a copy. *email addy removed now* dont want too many spammers getting their hands on it :-D Ian |
