Default Shell colour scheme

There's a picture in the Workbench area that shows a black shell screen.

How do you permanently change the colours of a shell window?

Hmm... i'm wondering how he made Amidock look that cool... or perhaps it's not Amidock at all?

And there is Visualprefs... right?

OS3.9 uses a modified version of ViNCEd for the shell. ViNCEd supports changing of the pallette, so I'm assuming that the OS3.9 version probably does too...

Try the 'SetVNC' command and see if that brings up the config GUI.

Personally, (even though most people hate ViNCEd) I use the original ViNCEd for my shell. It is kinda slow but I've added 'copy' & 'paste' buttons up top for convenience as well as made some other customisations that I have not seen available in othen Shell replacements.

After getting my A1200T OS3.9 finally back up and running, I did some rummaging around and found out how to do it, so I thought I'd post it anyway incase more people are interested. It works with ViNCEd's shell, not the standard Amiga shell/cli. So you will need to download ViNCEd from aminet (us) if you don't have OS3.9.

In the prefs for ViNCEd go to page 3 of the Edit tab. Tick the "ANSI colors by default", and un-tick the "Inverse ANSI coloring". Now save the changes and close the shell window.

When you restart the shell it will look like DOS (white text on black).

Now, to change the colours of the text you need to edit the s:Shell-Startup file.

The 3rd line (including the empty one) should read:

Prompt "%N.%S> "

If you change this to

Prompt "*E[32m%N.%S> "

Your shell will now have green text (after closing the shell window and starting it again). I don't know any more than this.

Does someone out there know what numbers the colours are, or where we can find out?
