Side-scroller, ok graphics and gameplay. Must have played it sometime between 92 and 94.

It's not too easy to explain how this looked, but here goes anyway:
You flew around shooting things, all seen from the side. The levels was something like a hill, with things both up in treetops and down on the ground to shoot at. Think a level was typically around 4x4 screens large or so. Quite large, anyway.

There was all sorts of enemies to shoot at, probably even other helicopters (this is a bit vague).

The enemies could have been vietnamese, I seem to remember straw huts and stuff. Please tell me I'm not the only one who saw this game, because I've been searching review pages and games databases all evening, and none of the names ring a bell :-(

That sounds like Apocalypse to me. I still occasionally play it now :-D

I've checked around and can't find any screenshots for it :-(

You know, I thought it started with something "A" or something, but I couldn't find it. Gee, thanks. Now onwards to the glory of tracking down a copy of Apocalypse. Can't see any on ebay, and BTTR doesn't have it (so it's not abandonware...). Anyone with a working set around the house? I have spent ALL day just trying to figure out what it's called, imagine how long it's gonna take me to find a legal copy? No Linux kernels for anyone for a month!!! (not that I have so far delivered anyway, but I was beginning to think I could get the 2.5.65 kernel to work this weekend. That was before I started up UAE :-) )

I play it too, occationaly. Quite cool game, although I only ever had the demo version (two (three?) of the campaigns don't work. But it has got nice controls.
