I have always had A1200's Anyways for some reason my Amiga only shows that it has 1mb of chip ram. When I load show config it says I only have 1mb also when I do the bootup with no start up and type avail it also only shows 1mb does any one have any ideas as to why this is? |

Have you checked the Chip RAM SIMM to see if it is a 2MB SIMM?

I also once had this issue.
There was a 2MB simm installed but computer only recognised 1 MB chipmem. Also the fastram had problems only 4MB total there while 16MB installed. It turned out to be the battery which had leaked over the connections to the simm-sockets. Is your clock still in working order and have you checked your mobo for leaking? On the other hand it may well be a 1MB simm. Should be a dubblesided simm I gues never did see a single sided. |

my Amiga does show that I have the other 16mb installed, but as this is my first time with an A4000 I am not sure where the chip ram is so i can see if I have 1 or 2 mb installed

All A4000s have 5 SIMM slots. The chip RAM is in the first slot (you'll need to take all the other SIMMs out to access it).
The exception is the uncommon Rev. D, which has chip RAM soldered to the board. |
