Default No CD-Audio through Amiga, only headphone socket

Not sure if it's me doing something wrong, but...I can't seem to get CD-Audio to come through my Amiga.

I've installed IDEFIX97 and all is well, plays CD32 games perfect apart from the CD-Audio side of things.

I can listen to the CD-Audio through the drives headphone socket, so it's definately accessing the correct tracks when using PlayCD from IDEFIX.

Info from PlayCD:

Type: 5 (CDROM Device)
Vendor: LITEON
Model: CD-ROM LTN242
Revision: HP12
Conforms to ANSI: 2

The CD-ROM drive and HD are attached to the internal IDE slot of my A1200.

Any ideas?

You haven't connected the CD-ROM audio, obviously.

The thing is: you can't, with stock A1200. You either need to mix it with amiga audio output outside of amiga, or hack some CD-ROM audio connector.

You could use player software that does CDDA , eg MUICD but you'll get it at the A1200's 8bit sound quality (couldn't see one that used AHI to get 14bit).
The other downside is it sucks a lot more CPU time compared to using an external mixer like Piru suggested.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Much appreciated.

@Piru, how would I go about mixing it with amiga audio ?

The only way I can think of is to connect the headphone-out of the cd-rom drive to the audio out of the amiga when in use.

I've got no-end of wires and leads kicking around and can easily make a stereo 3.5mm lead and attach to the L & R output leads coming from the A1200 audio-out sockets. This would work in theory, but not sure if I would get any unwanted noise when the CDDA is not in use.

That doesn't work well with games, though.

See backside of any CD or DVD drive. The audio connector is located there.

The actual details of the needed mixing hardware can be found from aminet hard/hack for example.

I've just had a quick mess around before reading the post above and managed to get CD Audio while playing "Liberation - CD32".

I've got my A1200 connected through SCART, so before I started cutting wires and stuff (as i do), I use a dual-scart input which I had kicking around. I connected the A1200 as normal (comp, L&R audio) and then connected the headphones-out of the CD-ROM drive to the second socket of the dual-scart.

Now, I booted Liberation and the intro played perfectly in sync with CD Audio, but when it came to the game, all I could hear was CD Audio as it was overpowering the Amiga audio. So, in order to get a balance, I removed the left channel cable from the 3.5mm to phono I had kicking around and it works perfectly now.

Now I'll have a read of the above post and see if I can get it any better than my current set up, which at the moment I can live with.

EDIT: @Defender Of The Faith
My current CD-ROM Drive for my A1200 is in some kind of shell. It's not like the back of my PC CD Drives. It looks like somekind of homemade thing. The IDE cable is fed through the back, so maybe if I open her up I could mess around with the audio-out like on a PC CD Drive.
