A forum search turned up very little on NFS on Amiga at all, so I don't know how much response I'll get but...
My A4000T does NFS mounts to a fileserver in my home. I don't know at this point if what I have is a hardware or software problem, so here is relevant info: Amiga 4000T OS 3.9 BB2, using Genesis for NFS CSPPC@180/060@50 X-Surf being utilitized for ethernet, until Prommy gets DMA :-) Linux box Debian AMD64 stable, 2.6.12.1 SMP kernel 2xOpteron 242 Intel e1000 ethernet Networking is through wall jacks and a series of unmanaged switches. A -> S -> S -> S -> L And here is the problem. Shortly after mounting export: on the Amiga, I get these in /var/log/messages sometimes: Code:
Aug 8 21:53:30 kos-mos rpc.mountd: authenticated mount request from zefiris:713 for /export (/export) Aug 8 21:54:58 kos-mos kernel: nerverot[19949]: segfault at fffffffc0050f970 ri p 0000000000404358 rsp 00007ffffffaf640 error 4 Aug 8 22:23:48 kos-mos -- MARK -- Aug 8 22:41:06 kos-mos kernel: e1000: eth0: e1000_watchdog_task: NIC Link is Do wn Aug 8 22:41:08 kos-mos kernel: e1000: eth0: e1000_watchdog_task: NIC Link is Up 100 Mbps Full Duplex **link down/up repeats a couple times** FWIW the server is fairly heavily loaded when I'm around to bother it and I never get any errors (ever!) except when the Amiga is using NFS from it. The load from that is really light, so this issue seems really strange to me. Thanks for any help ;-) |

I have a similar setup as yours. A3000 with 3.9 BB1 mounts my home dir from a gentoo 2.6.11 linux box, every time on bootup.
The A3000 has an X-surf and uses Genesis for TCP/IP. I've never experienced anything like that you describe. I had once a problem with the A3000 which couldnt write to the nfs exported dir, although netbsd on the same machine could do it just fine. Turned out that there was a problem with the linux kernel sources I was using at the time.

On further digging through the logs the Amiga UNIX box is doing the same thing sometimes. That's an entirely different OS and a different NIC too (A2065). My guess is that my el cheapo switches don't really play well with mixing 10Mb and 100Mb. The nerverot segfault seems to be a coincidence.
So, it's probably flakey hardware. Thanks for the info, that helped me make up my mind! |
