Default installing 3.9 from HDD?

I don't have CDROM connected to Amiga. Can OS 3.9 be installed from HDD? (the Amiga can be networked with PC)

Yes. Just copy all files from the CD into a directory and set an assign AmigaOS3.9: to that directory. If you want to install the Boingbags make sure to copy the multimedia files, too.

You might need to install OS3.9 twice because without booting from the emergency disk, the icons are not copied correctly. So install it once, boot it, if the icons look wrongly, install it again on top of the existing installation.

Bye,
Thomas

Hi,

Be careful if using Windoze to copy the OS3.9 files off CD - some of the filenames (particularly "AUX") cause it problems as they correspond to legacy DOS devices.

Not sure if it's fully necessary, but I copied my OS3.9 installation CD's contents directly into an LHA archive whilst the PC was running under WinUAE, therefore avoiding any naming nasties...

Of course, if you're using Linux, this isn't a problem!

Regards,

- Ali

@orange

No, it wouldn't be a problem, but there is a lot of icons, so it woulld be faster to just install it once again; no need to copy backdrops twice.
