Default UAE and Solaris 10

I've finally got a nice piece of hardware (Sun Blade 1000 running solaris 10 (SPARC))-- and I would like to try out UAE.

Has anyone done tried this before (running UAE on solaris, let alone solaris 10?)
Any advice ??

sincerely,
darryl

After a bit of searching I couldn't find a Solaris/Sparc 64bit version of UAE. Do you have the package already? I've seen an older version for Solaris 9/Sparc 32bit but since my (very) old Ultra2 only supports Solaris 8 I've never tried.

I used to use UAE on an Ultra 5, which was a bit slow...but then an Ultra 5 is a bit slow these days anyway. That was also the old version of UAE.

I decided to give it another try when I read your post. I pulled down E-UAE from this website:

http://www.rcdrummond.net/uae/

And compiled it on a V240 running Solaris 10. It's ok, we aren't in production yet and I'll remove the evidence shortly ;-) On this box I have installed everything + OEM, as well as everything off the "software companion" CD which contains a bunch of handy things like libsdl that E-UAE will like a lot. It should compile fine with just X11 too though. If you installed everything you should also have the right GTK+ libraries so you can make the GUI.

Only gotcha is you need to add -lrt to the CFLAGS before running configure otherwise you'll get missing symbols. I also did this with gcc, dunno what you'll experience using Sun Studio or whatever. CFLAGS I used when running configure are:

-O3 -lrt -fomit-frame-pointer -fexpensive-optimizations

The big thing you'll miss with UAE on Sparc is the JIT, that'll slow things down a bit.
